Hornets hand loss to ‘Cats
An out-of-the ordinary Saturday afternoon game did not treat the Wildcats of Paden City any better than Friday nights have been this season, as the ‘Cats fell to the Hundred Hornets at Hundred, 30-12 on Saturday afternoon.
“We started off well, but we made some mistakes that turned out to really hurt us,”said Paden City head coach, Brent Croasmun. “We had our chances to score, we just blew to many opportunities to come back once we were behind.”
Offensively, Taylor Still gained 85 yards on 13 carries including a touchdown.
Paden City’s sophomore quarterback, Drew Bidwell, completed 10 of 28 passes for 122 yards in the game.
Still led all receivers on the Green and White side of the ball with four catches for 61 yards. Geoffrey Bidwell caught four passes for 32 yards; and Jared Stewart had two catches for 29 yards.
Defensively, Still had 12 tackles, eight solos, and one tackle for a loss. Peyton Hinkley had 12 tackles and one interception for a touchdown return; Jamie Billiter was credited with 11 tackles; Stewart had seven tackles; Geoffrey Bidwell and Kyle Stanton had six tackles each in the game.
“The boys played hard,” Croasmun said. “They really did. We just made way to many mistakes and couldn’t seem to make up for them.?our inexperience is really showing.”
On Friday, the Wildcats will host the Cameron Dragons at Berger Field in Paden City’s homecoming game. The 2010 homecoming will be crowned at half-time in the game.
The Dragons also come into the game without a win thus far in the 2010 season.
