Silver Knights fall to Edison Local 37-6

By Staff | Sep 22, 2010

The Silver Knights of Tyler Consolidated played host to the Edison Local Wildcats on Friday at Knight Stadium, and even though they gave a good effort, the Wildcats took the win, 37-6.

“In my opinion, the final score of this game does not tell the whole story,” said Knight head coach, Rob Caldwell.

“We had a good week at practice, the majority of our kids are back healthy, and they played like they wanted to be there. Everybody gave a good effort and we definitely looked better than we have all year. We just didn’t get the ‘W’, and that’s the whole point.”

Knight quarterback, senior Jordan Smith, completed nine of 19 passes in the game and was intercepted once, gaining 62 yards. Boone Kehrer was the leading receiver for the home team with two catches for 25 yards.

Cory Lowe caught two passes for 14 yards; Isaac Graham had two catches for 12 yards; Alex Doak caught one pass for three yards; and Zack Knowlton caught one pass for nine yards.

Graham was the leading rusher for the Knights, gaining 195 yards on 31 carries including the touchdown; Skyler Leasure, seven yards on one carry; Cory Lowe, one yard on one carry; and Evan Cline, one yard on one carry.

“When you have the ball inside the 20 yard line and are not able to score, something’s wrong,” Caldwell said.

“We shot ourselves in the foot with mistakes and miscues to many times in this game and inopportune times. We’ve got to take better care of the football. We’ve got to put points on the board when we have the chance to.”

Defensively, senior Isaac Graham led the home team with eight tackles and two assists; Hunter LeMasters had seven tackles, one solo; Cline had seven tackles, one assist, one solo, one tackle for a loss and one interception; Cody Laugh had six tackles, one assist and one fumble recovery; Kehrer had six tackles, one tackle for a loss.

Alex Doak had three solo tackles; Lowe was credited with three tackles and one assist; Isaiah Cassenelli had two tackles; and Drew Casey had one tackle.

On Friday night the Silver Knights will travel south to Ravenswood to take on the undefeated Red Devils.
