Lady Knights win second game of season at home
The Lady Knight soccer team of Tyler Consolidated surpassed last year’s one-win record last week, gaining their second win of the season. The team played three games, winning one of the three.
On Sept. 14 the Lady Knights played host to South Harrison, taking their second win of the season, 6-0. “It wasn’t the prettiest of wins,” said head coach of the Lady Knights, Cliff Warner. “But we’ll take it.”
Consolidated led the game at the half-way mark, 5-0, which gave Warner and the Silver Ladies a chance to work on drills and defensive objectives in the second half.
Scoring for the home team were: senior Jackie Clark with three goals; Carissa Beaver, one goal; Lindsey Snider, one goal; Marley Snider, one goal; and Meg Warner with the lone assist of the day. Keeper, freshman Sophie Kinnard, pocketed the shut-out with 17 saves.
On Sept. 16 the Knights welcomed the Linsly Cadets (10-2-1) to Burbacher Field. Though they played a well balanced game, the Knights came out on the short end of the 6-0.
“We lost, but I was very happy with the way the girls played,” Warner said.
“We were 30 minutes into the game before they scored at all, our girls played excellent defense on the day. The game was only 2-0 at the half, and considering the caliber of the team we played, I was very pleased.”
At Ravenswood on Saturday it was a different story as the Lady Knights fell to the Lady Red Devils, 5-0.
“I don’t know what our problem was in this game,” the coach said. “It just didn’t look like the same team that was on the field on Thursday. We just didn’t play as well as I know we can.”
The Lady Knights will have a week off with no games scheduled, and will host Indian Creek on Sept. 29.
