Softball teams keeping busy
The Lady Knight and Lady Wildcat softball programs are now in full swing with both teams seeing action almost every night of the week.
On April 6 the Lady Knights took on the Parkersburg South Lady Patriots, falling short in both games of the double header, 12-0 and 13-2.
In the first game, South put all 12 of their runs on the scoreboard in the last three innings of the game, gaining 12 runs on 10 hits. Consolidated had one hit in the game and committed seven errors.
Junior Heather Suter was at the pitchers position for the Silver, striking out four batters and walking three. Emily Moore walked one. Offensively, Amanda Goodfellow singled for the Lady Knights.
In the second loss of the day, Consolidated scored two runs on five hits and had eight errors.
Sophomore Keri Suter handled the pitching duties, walking five batters. Moore also had a turn at the first position, walking three. Jones singled and doubled in the game and Goodfellow singled, driving in two runs.
On April 7 the Lady Wildcats of Paden City took on River in Ohio, handing the Lady Pilots the loss, 10-8.
The Green and White scored ten runs on ten hits and had one error while the Pilots scored eight runs on nine hits and committed six errors.
Amber Palmer held down the pitcher’s position for the ‘Cats, striking out six and walking seven.
Offensively, Paden City’s Palmer doubled and singled and was credited with one RBI; Courtney Conaway doubled, singled and knocked in two RBI’s; and Stephanie West hit two singles.
The Lady ‘Cats traveled to Cameron on Monday only to return home with the loss 15-0 to the Lady Dragons.
Palmer took the loss as the pitcher, walking six.
The Lady ‘Cats will see action again on Wednesday when they host River. On April 15 the Wildcats will play at Williamstown and will travel to Bridgeport on Saturday.
Tyler Consolidated’s Lady Knights will head to Williamstown on Wednesday, and will host Valley on April 15. The Silver and Black will host Ravenswood in a double-header on April 16.
