Speed clinic to be sponsored at PC

The Paden City Football Parents Club in collaboration with Woodmen of the World Lodge 332 will be sponsoring a speed clinic for coaches and athletes of all sports. The clinic will take place on May 8 at Paden City High School. The clinic will be divided into two sessions with middle school (grades 6-7-8) running from 9 – 11:30 a.m. and high school (grades 9-10-11-12) running from 12:30 – 3:30 p.m.

Allan Johnson from Champion Edge Sport Performance Training will be conducting the clinic. Coach Johnson will instruct on different exercises and training techniques that will improve his or her overall speed.

This will be an excellent opportunity for all athletes that participate in any sport. The athlete should come dressed and prepared to work with hurdles, stretch bands, cones, jump ropes, and running harnesses.

Allan Jonhson has 25-plus years of experience at the high school, collegiate, and professional level as a strength and conditioning professional. He has coached at West Virginia University and Ohio State University, hellping OSU win the 2002 NCAA Championship in football. He has coached in 17 post-season football and basketball games including Sweet-16, NCAA tournaments and three national football championship games.

Coach Johnson was the first strength and conditioning coach in the history of the Baltimore Orioles baseball team and one of the first five in all of major league baseball.

He was a 2003 inductee into the Strength and Condition Coaches Hall of Fame.

He was named the 2002 National Strength Coach of the Year and has been recognized six times as Big East Conference Strength and Conditioning Coach of the Year.

Throughout his career, he has trained NFL, MBA, MBL, NCAA all-Americans, and nationally ranked tennis players. He is a regular speaker at national, regional, and local conferences and clinics regarding strength, speed, conditioning topics, as well as motivation, leadership and team building areas. He serves as a consultant for Nike Football Clinics, Gilman Bear, High Magazine, Maxx Football, and Alpha Dogs Sport. He is certified through NSCA, CSCCA, and NASE. He currently owns his own business called Champion Edge Sport Performance Training.

Cost of the clinic will be $15 per athlete or coach. Any coach who brings five players will get in free.

Any athlete may be accompanied by one parent free of charge. If more than one athlete attends from a family the additional athletes will pay $10.

Those who pre-register before April 26 will get a Speed Clinic T-shirt.

When registering for clinic send name, address, phone number and check made out to Paden City Football Parents club. Also include size of T-shirt.

Registration for middle school session will start at 8:30 a.m. and registration for the high school session will begin at noon.

Coaches of any sport, athletes sixth grade and up, and parents are invited to attend this clinic.

Registration will be accepted on the day of the clinic, but those persons will not be guaranteed a T-shirt.

The Wetzel County Board of Education, Paden City High School, or anyone helping with instruction will not be held liable for injuries.
