Girls ‘10 season winding down
The girls high school varsity basketball season is dwindling down quickly, with post game contests in view. Though neither team can count their season as successful as they would have liked to, both the Tyler Consolidated Lady Knights and the Paden City Wildcats have gained a wealth of experience to assist their team play next year.
The two teams met up with each other in a contest on Monday at Paden City at Bob Burton Gymnasium. The Lady Knights took the upper hand early in the game, and came out with the win, 50-34.
Lady Knight senior, Christy Jones, led all scorers in the game with 13. Lynsee Casteel and Heather Suter each scored 10 points in the effort. Sami Jones added five; Tiffany Lohri, four; Keri Suter, three; Haylee Acree and Torrye Cline each scored two; and Alison Wabe added one point to the total.
For the Lady Wildcats, senior Allison Bertozzi was the leading scorer with 12. Megan Cutlip totaled seven in the contest; Amanda Heasley, six; Amanda Tallman, four; Dominique Craft, three; and Erica Sapp, two.
Tyler Consolidated faced off with the Lady Riders of Weir on Jan. 29 at Weir, taking the fall, 59-36.
Scoring for the Silver and Black were: Sami Jones and Heather Suter with 10 points each; Christy Jones had eight; Lohri scored six; and Keri Suter added two points to the total.
The Lady Knights will play again tonight at Doddridge and will play at St. Marys on Feb. 9.
The Lady Wildcats will see action at home on Feb. 4 when they host Beallsville.
