Wildcats fall to Hornets
The Paden City varsity boys basketball team is still searching for their first win of the’09-’10 season after playing two games last week.
The ‘Cats, in a rebuilding season, fell to both Beallsville (on the road) and Hundred (at home) in their quest to add wins to their season record.
On Jan. 15 at Beallsville the Bulldogs put together a 14 point second quarter to outlast the ‘Cats and take the win, 46-29.
Zach Yost led all Paden City scorers in the game with eight points in the contest.
Josh Bennett scored six; Barker, five; Taylor Still added four; Malachai Anderson and Peyton Hinkley scored two points each; and Jamie Billiter, and Geoffrey Bidwell added one point apiece.
At home at Bob Burton Gymnasium on Jan. 16, Paden City played host to Wetzel County rivals, the Hundred Hornets (4-3), and again, came out on the low side of the score, 50-42.
In the lead, 29-26 at the half, the ‘Cats were unable to get out of single digits in the third and fourth in order to get the win over the Hornets.
Anderson led all scorers in the game with 22 points and pulled down seven rebounds.
Still added eight points to Paden City’s side of the scoreboard; Bennett, seven; Hinkley, four and Drew Bidwell, one.
Dalton Kuhn led the Hornets with 12 points followed by Tyrell Watson with 10.
The Paden City Wildcats will play again on Jan. 21 at Valley aginst the Lumberjack in a varsity only match-up beginning at 7:30 p.m.
On Jan. 22 the team will play the Dragons at Cameron High School and on Jan. 26 the ‘Cats will host Beallsville at Bob Burton Gymnasium.
