Soccer Knights efforts pay off in awards

Along with the history making ’09 season, the Tyler Consolidated High School Silver Knight varsity boys soccer team can now add several post-season awards to their resume. At least six members of the team have been recognized for their skill on the field by their conferences.

Senior Spencer Kinnard was selected to the first team, All-State team; first team OVAC; OVAC division three player of the year; all LKC team; and will be playing in the North-South, Class A-AA boys soccer game at East West Stadium in Fairmont on Nov. 21.

Aaron Estep, Knight senior, was selected to the second team All-State; honorable mention for the OVAC team; All LKC; and will be participating in the North-South game.

Dustin Snider, senior, received an honorable mention for the All-State team; named to the first team, OVAC; All LKC; and will participate in the North-South game.

Alex Jones, also a senior at Tyler Consolidated, received an honorable mention to the All-State team; honorable mention, OVAC; All LKC; and will join his three other team mates at the North-South game in Fairmont.

The Knights Justin Cooper received an honorable mention for the All-State team; chosen for the first team, OVAC; and made the All LKC team. Skylar Kinnard received an honorable mention for the All-State team and was selected as an All LKC player.

“I’m very proud of them,” said head coach of the Silver Knights, Scott Wall. “This is something they have worked hard for, and earned. I’m really ecstatic that they are getting recognized.”

“These guys are the reason that our team did so well this year, their hard work, their effort.”

The coach himself also has some accolades come his way as well, receiving the distinction of OVAC division three Coach of the Year.
