Knights fall to Rebels in Regional
Tyler Consolidateds Lady Knight varsity volleyball team placed runner-up to the Sectional champion last week in order to compete at the Region I Regional on Saturday, which they hosted.
Competing at Magnolia in the Sectionals, the Lady Knights defeated the Lady Red Riders of Weir to make the finals.
The win over Weir had the Silver and Black facing off with the Lady Bears of Oak Glen in the finals. The Bears eventually took the match and the Sectional championship, but Consolidated’s second place finish qualified them for Regional play.
The Region I championship was hosted at Tyler Consolidated on Saturday with the Lady Knights, Ravenswood, Ritchie County and Oak Glen competing for the top two spots.
The Silver Knight Ladies came up against an experienced and tough Ritchie County Rebel team in the first round, and found themselves on the short end of the 25-19, 25-18, 28-30 and 25-20 match.
The Rebels took on Oak Glen in the finals, falling to the Lady Bears who took the Region I Class AA championship. Both Oak Glen and Ritchie County will represent the Region at the State Volleyball Tournament.
