County Chorus concert entertains all

All of the choir students in the county joined together to entertain the audience at the 2014 All County Chorus concert held at Tyler Consolidated on March 13.

The 2014 All County Chorus was held at the Tyler Consolidated Middle/High School Auditorium on March 13 with all the choir students in the county participating.

The Arthur I. Boreman Elementary School Choir, under the direction of Director Matthew Jennings, were accompanied on the piano by Jillann Westbrook during the concert. The group performed, “The Arrow and the Song” (Music by Mary Lynn Lightfoot, words by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow); “The Moon” (Andy Beck); and Give Me a Kit (Andy Beck).

The Sistersville Elementary School Choir, under the direction of Brian Bailey and accompanied by Amy Yeater, also sang several special selections. The group performed “Tiger! Tiger!” (Mary Lynn Lightfoot); “Be a Candle of Hope”, (Becki Slagle Mayo); and “We Circle Around”, (Ruth Elaine Schram).

The Tyler Consolidated Middle School performed under the direction of Abram Negie and were accompanied by Clara Glover. The choir performed “The Drunken Sailor”, (a sea chanty arr. Emily Crocker); “The Drinking Gourd” (Andre J. Thomas); and “Tambourica” (an Ukrainian Dance Song, arr. Theron Kirk).

Negie also directed the Tyler Consolidated High School Choir at the concert in their performances of: “Didn’t My Lord Deliver Daniel”, (arr. Roger Emerson); “Non Novis, Domine”, (Jerry Estes); and “Take Time in LIfe (a Liberian Folk Song arr. Tom Voorhis and Barbara Klemp.)

At the end of the evening, concert goers were treated to an amazing rendition of “Down by the Riverside” (Spiritual arr. by Jay Althouse), performed beautifully by all four choirs, singing on the stage together.
