Lady ‘Cats bring home the wins

The Lady Wildcat volleyball team at Paden City has faced all comers this season, and have earned some nice wins over some tough teams. The busiest team at Paden City High School this season, the Lady ‘Cats look to be well on their way to post season success.

Lady ‘Cats took on Wheeling Central on Sept. 26 at home, taking the win in two games, 25-23 and 25-14 over the Maroon Knights.

Freshman Taylor Cosper led the Green and White with 12 serving points on the day, one ace and four digs. Logan Cosper served nine points, had one dig, 65 good sets and 27 assists; Graeson Baker scord eight, one ace, had four digs and two kills; Josie Fox, eight points, one ace, four digs, two kills; Lynnsie Parsons, seven points, five digs, nine kills; Myah Charkawi, six points, five digs, four kills; Megan Pierce, one dig, four kills; and Haley Hizer, one dig, six kills.

In their second game on the day, Paden City battled with Bishop Donahue, coming out ahead in the end in two games, 25-23 and 25-22.

Baker led all scorers for the home team with 14 points and two aces. She was also credited with 12 digs and six kills. Taylor Cosper scored 11 and had six digs; Logan Cosper served eight points, had three digs, 86 sets and 30 assists; Fox, seven points, six digs; Parsons, six points, six digs, 10 kills; Charkawi, four points, nine digs; Hizer, one dig, seven kills; and Pierce, seven kills.

On Sept. 27 the Lady Wildcats went up against the Lady Irish of Notre Dame, easily taking two quick wins, 25-9 and 25-10.

Almost everybody had a hand in the scoring for Paden City with Taylor Cosper leading the way with 12 served points and three digs. Baker had a good game with 11 points, one ace, and four digs; Fox, seven points, three aces, six digs; Logan Cosper, six pints, 48 sets and 24 assists; Parsons, five points, one ace, five digs and 11 kills; Charkawi, five points, four digs and one kill; Cydney Blatt, two points, two kills; Dezirae Middleton, two points; Hizer, one dig, five kills; and Pierce, five kills.

Against the Lady Hornets of Hundred, the ‘Cats again made quick work of their opponents with wins of 25-5 and 25-6.

Senior Lynnsie Parsons led all scorers in the game with 16 served points and one ace. She also had four digs and six kills. Charkawi scored eight points, had four digs and two kills; Logan Cosper served seven points, had 38 sets and 18 assists; Baker, five points, two digs, two kills; Taylor Cosper, three digs; Nizer, seven kills; Middleton, one dig.

Playing at Tyler Consolidated on Sept. 29, the Lady ‘Cats found themselves on the low side of the scoreboard at the end of the day, falling to both Warren Local and their hosts.

The ‘Cats fell to Warren, 25-10 and 25-19 with Taylor Cosper leading the scorers for the Green and White in the game with nine points, and three digs. Charkawi scored six points, had one ace, four digs and two kills; Baker scored five points and had six digs; Parsons served four points, had four digs and three kills; Logan Cosper scored three points, had one dig, 47 sets and 12 assists; Fox added two points, five digs; Pierce, three kills; and Hizer, one dig, four kills.

Versus the Lady Knights, the ‘Cats fell in two games, 25-14 and 25-13.

Myah Charkawi topped all Paden City scorers with six points, one ace. She also had eight digs and two kills in the contest. Taylor Cosper also added six points, had one ace and five digs; Baker, four points, four digs, one kill; Parsons, four points, one ace, four digs and three kills; Logan Cosper, four points, 45 sets and 12 assists; Fox, three points, one ace, three digs; Pierce, five kills; and Hizer, one dig and three kills.

The Lady Wildcts will see action again this week on Oct. 4 at River and on Oct. 10 at Clay Battelle.
