Dear Editor,
I am wondering if my experience with Resite workers for my son is the result of social breakdown or misjudgements of character on my part.
About five years ago, I lired an older women. I terminated her employment because self medication and batteries dissapeared from my home. She was also un reliable.
I waited about four years and hired someone else. I had known her, not well, for years. Despite her household earnings being four times what ours are, things began missing. She left boxes, but took the items. She even took from my son, whoás disabled. She took advantage of the fact that he cannot tell on her.
From me, she took 2-14k gold bracelts, two 10k gold rings, one handmade and looked braided and one with balck onyx set with a diamond center. A gold necklace with 3 individual diamonds going downward in the center and a pair of âbarbedã hoop silver earrings. She took my Fugi film Fine Pix S2940 camera, along with carry case and instructions. She took $85 of Madison Reed Products for colored hair, three flash drives, a hand painted salsa bowl, a small light gren Tiara glassware ashtray (collectors) and household items like RidX, Miracle Grow Plant Food and food items.
From my son she, she took his portable nebulizer, his “orange owl faced” ceramic plate with raised edges, (his grandfather bought), his “Penguin Pilow Pal” that he picked out abd bought with his birthday money, a lacing toy used for therapy, It had wooden sea creatures (octopus, starfish, crab, etc.) and a lace with some adaptive pieces in a cear, vinyl, zippered bag. He willingly used that. She even took his clear yellow nail brush that had a single layer of stiff bristles on the back: his good tweezers and I could go on and on.
The flash drives she took had my pictures from old computers and laptops. She didn’t mind stealing our memories and deleting them as if they were nothing (the camera had photos too).
Unfortunately, I have to be able to trust them in my home. I wish I would have filed a police report! Is integrety a thing of the past? I certainly hpe not! Or did I just choose poorly because I thought I knew them?
