Letter to the Editor – Back Home Festival 2021
This summer expect a crowd of company in downtown New Martinsville on June 25, June 26, and June 27. All Main Stage performances are free and begin at 6PM on Friday. Friday evening’s activities will last until 11PM at which time there will be performances at the Lincoln Theater.
On Saturday there will be free yoga with Sarah Shepard in front of the main stage at 10 am, followed by a hula hoop workshop with Ricci at 11am. The musical line-up begins at noon at the Lincoln Theater ($10) and moves from there to the main stage. There will be people on the street until the wee hours of the morning (based on last year’s festivities). There will be food and beverage vendors, artisans and crafters all weekend long.
On Sunday, the main stage music starts at 3:30 and runs until Fireworks at dark. The Fireworks will be visible from the main stage area. Fireworks will be set up near Harlan Drive on Sunday.
New Martinsville Parks & Recreation are offering Dollar Days on Saturday – you can go to Lewis Wetzel Pool, paddle boat, and/or play miniature golf for $1 each.
PLEASE NOTE: MAIN STREET FROM NORTH STREET TO HARLAN DRIVE WILL BE CLOSED TO TRAFFIC EACH DAY 1 (ONE) HOUR BEFORE THE FESTIVITIES BEGIN. RESIDENTS WILL NEED TO USE RIVER LANE TO TRAVEL NORTH TO SOUTH. MAPLE AVENUE WILL BE CLOSED FROM THE CORNER OF COX STREET TO HARLAN DRIVE FOR THE SAFETY OF FESTIVAL GOERS.EMERGENCY VEHICLES WILL STILL BE ABLE TO ACCESS ALL STREETS. THERE WILL BE TENT CAMPING AT THE MARINA, SO HARLAN DRIVE WILL BE CLOSED DURING THE FESTIVAL.
We are expecting over 10,000 people for these festivities and hope we can all give our visitors that perfect Wetzel County welcome! New Martinsville gained a reputation as “The Parlor City” because of our hospitality so let’s roll out the red carpet!
All main stage music is free to the public so we hope you will all come out and enjoy the festivities! If you are on Facebook, watch for more details on our Facebook pages – Back Home Festival, Visit Wetzel County and the Wetzel County Museum.
If you have any questions, want to volunteer to help with the event, or want to participate in any way, please call the museum and CVB office at 304-398-4910.
Looking forward to an incredible weekend,
