FROM PATTY WRIGHT
To The Editor,
Two weeks ago my mother, Rose L. (Sue) Crookshanks celebrated her 95th birthday. As a result of the article published in both the Wetzel Chronicle and Tyler Star News (written beautifully by Telina Frye), my mother received an outpouring of cards and well wishes. She also had a wonderful party with friends and family.
To my surprise, this article was also published in the Parkersburg News, and Mom has continued to receive cards up to the date of this letter. In total, Mom received 228 birthday cards – well exceeding our goal of 95 cards!
To everyone who took the time to send a card, thank you so much! To someone my mother’s age, a text message doesn’t have the same meaning has a handwritten note inside a beautiful card, which she can hold and have read to her over and over!
Finally, thank you from all of us in the Crookshanks family for paying tribute to our mother in such a special and meaningful way!
