From Delegate Frank Deem

By Staff | Sep 20, 2017

To the Editor,

As a member of the Republican State Executive Committee, I feel compelled to write this letter endorsing the road bond issue which will be voted upon October 7th.

I do this in spite of the fact that the State Executive Committee recently voted against this issue at their meeting in Princeton. Their no vote was promoted by the chairman and was a voice vote, not favored by all in attendance.

The road bond issue is being supported by the State Chamber, organized labor, the Coal Association, the Business and Industry Council and other groups interested in the economic well-being of our state.

There will be no increase in taxes as these have already been approved by the Legislature. Anyone driving the highways in our state knows the condition our roads and bridges are in and that they are badly in need of repair.

Truth of the matter is there is simply not enough present income, without bonding, to make these repairs.
