Gathering in Middlebourne for the annual fair is one of the most exciting times of the year in Tyler County. The fair is a special time for us as residents of all ages come together and enjoy days of food, festivities, and family. During the six day event there is no shortage of activity, food and comradery.
One of the incredible things about the Tyler County Fair is there is something for everyone to enjoy. From the Flea Market or the Demolition Derby, there is something to pique your interest no matter what your interest may be. The history and traditions of West Virginia are alive and well at the Tyler County Fair Mountaineer Day where organizers host hog calling and the hay bale throwing contests. These fun competitions provide a small glimpse into what it means to be a West Virginia Mountaineer.
When Gayle and I visit county fairs across West Virginia, we love meeting new friends and sampling our favorite fair foods. I hope you enjoy the same excitement when you enter the gates in Middlebourne. Learn more about Tyler County and the neighbors that make it home. Enjoy the food prepared by local farmers and grocers but save room for funnel cake.
Perhaps most importantly, all this fair fun would not be possible without the Tyler County Fair Association President Andrew Weekley and all the Officers, Directors, and Chairmen. Your hard work and collaboration are why the Tyler County Fair, in its 55th year, is a West Virginia treasure.
If you haven’t already made it out to the Tyler County Fair, I strongly encourage you to do so. This week of festivities will result in memories that will last a lifetime. Have a great time at the fair!
