Dear Editor:
The Tycon Knights Youth League is a non-profit organization affiliated with the American Youth Football and LKC programs. The league is open to all K through sixth grade students in Middlebourne, Sistersville, and Paden City who wish to play tackle football or be a cheerleader. The cost for football is $50 per player, with discounts given to multiple children in the same family.
The cost for cheerleading is $30 per individual with discounts given for multiple children in the same family. There are no additional fees for uniforms/helmets/pads.
There are 3 teams consisting of a K-2k, 3 and 4, and 5 and 6 grade teams. The K-2 team is an instructional based team with coaches on the field with players at all times during the games.
The third/fourth and fifth/sixth grade teams are played without weight restrictions therefore encouraging the players to play the positions they are best at.
Practices will begin the end of July and will be rotated through the communities of Middlebourne, Sistersville, and Paden City to accommodate players and their families. All home games are played at TCHS field.
There is a Grid-O-Rama on August 11 at TCHS beginning 9 a.m. Teams from Tyler, Ritchie, Doddridge, and Roane will be participating. There are six regular season games, with the top four teams going to the playoffs. Regular season games begin August 18.
