From Patty Henthorn – Debbie Watson
Dear Editor:
I was contacted on Jan. 19 concerning Rod Smith and his current health conditions and was asked if a benefit dinner could be planned. We started planning the benefit on that evening and within 48 hours everything started to fall into place.
The benefit dinner was held Sunday, Jan. 30 and the support from the community was overwhelming. We would like to thank everyone who helped us in anyway. We would also like to thank the following businesses who donated to our benefit: Witschey’s, Lucy’s, Rodney and Susan Hayes, Big C’s, Dollar General, Valley Grange #519, S&S Jewelry, Gold Diggers, 7-11 of New Martinsville, Barth’s Florist, Your Stores, Off the Wall, and Creative Images. We would like to thank everyone who donated desserts, their time and for all who opened their hearts and joined us for dinner on Sunday. If we have forgotten anyone we are very sorry, we didn’t want to list every individual in fear that we would forget someone. We live in such a great community that we all pull together when someone else is in need.
Rod and his family were so thankful for everyone’s thoughtfulness and for all the time that was invested to his benefit. Rod informed me that he would see us all soon drinking coffee in the back of Witscheys. Again, Thanks so much for helping us make this benefit a total success. The communities willingness to help was not only appreciated by Rod and his family but by all of those who helped put the benefit together. I am glad to say that I live in Tyler County, where your neighbors are always willing to help you out.
Sincerely,
Patty Henthorn
