Fletcher tells of ‘Fun Day’

By Staff | Jun 30, 2010

Dear Editor:

Very few of the readers of the Tyler Star News may be aware of the recent Field Day Funday-raiser that the Tyler County Preschool held.

This day included a number of activity stations including a water balloon throw at the children’s choice of staff members. Each child paid $1 per water balloon and all of the proceeds went to the Ronald McDonald House of Morgantown’s “Share-A-Night” fund. This fund ensures that no one is turned away because of inability to pay to stay at the house.

Along with stuffed animals, poptabs, items from a wish list provided by the house, and close to $700, the children were able to send all ink-jet cartridges and toner that was collected from the “E-Cycling Day” at Momentive of Bens Run.

Facepainting, cake and ice cream, and a goodie bag for the children were provided as a reward for all of the children’s hard work.

As proud parents, business owners/sponsors, and community supporters, we believe that recognition of this wonderful event shoud not go unnoticed, even though several attempts have been made to try and get this story published in the Tyler Star News.

So, as promised, we would like to recognize the sponsors of the annual Tyler County Preschool Field Day Funday-raiser. They are as follows: Doak’s Greenhouse, Country Boy Classics, Union Bank of Tyler County, Wetzel/Tyler Health Department, Susan Boyles, American Red Cross, Wesbanco, Danny Thomas Racing, Tyler Insurance, New Martinsville Parks and Recreation, McDonald’s of NM and St. Mary’s, WIC program, Strodes’ Barber Shop, Quintilla’s Fabrics, Witschey’s, Momentive, Joyce’s Floral Bow-K, Tyler Feed, Auggie’s, Middlebourne Baptist Church, Pentecostal Church of Tyler City, Sherry Frey, Jessica Quinn Billiter, Tyler Co. Preschool and Head Start Staff, Parent Volunteers, Wal-Mart, Pat Wildman, Joni McCrobie, Emma Rucker, Jean Hayes, Patty Weekley, Lora Thomas, Naomi Beagle, Helen Archer, Dorothy Wadsworth, Kathy Wissmar, Sistersville General Hospital, and everyone who donated money, wish list items, pop tabs, inkjet printer cartridges, etc.

Without the help of these individuals and businesses, Field Day would not be possible. Please extend your gratitude and patronage to them.

Sincerely,

Brandi Fletcher
