Rhodes talks about TV
To the Editor,
I’ve been watching television lately and during commercials, literally, forgetting what I was watching!
First, I thought this was the (getting older) thing, but, then watching a show on the Discovery Channel, I realized, that there were a heck of a lot of them and they lasted longer than I expected. So, I decided to write down the amount, what they were and how long, I want you to know, I had a hard time keeping up, an hour long show, “A Haunting Where Evil Lurks,” Discovery, on April 15, had 33 commercials. Then on April 19, the Today show in L.A. comes on at 10 a.m. I watched, everyday (I’ve changed my mind now, at 10:22 a.m. 14 commercials. Back at 10:30 a.m. eight minutes later six commercials.
Back at 10:42 and believe it or not, at 10:45, three minutes later, seven of them. Back at 10:50 a.m. and “Heaven help us,” at 10:53, had nine more, three whole minutes later. I haven’t dated look at sports or my favorite shows because I’m sick from realizing how much they pull the wool over our eyes, so we can’t see what’s going on. 36 commercials in 60 minutes.
I realize they have to pay, the exorbitant salaries, they make and the smaller channels need to pay for their shows, but, I’m tired of paying high television bills and then for the added money each product adds, to pay for their commercial! Boo – to television. Where’s the television regulation committee? Who knows, maybe, they pay their salaries too! I hate things jumping out at me, but creeping up on me, makes me even madder. I’m just saying.
