McAnarney says ‘thank you’
Dear Editor,
We would like to express our heartfelt thanks and gratitude to all those involved in the Boy Scouts “Scouting for Food” which was held on Nov. 7. Our food pantry received 1,997 items from this food drive.
First of all, we appreciate WesBanco and Witschey’s Food Mart and Pharmacy for supplying the flyers and bags which were distributed around town advertising this food drive. These local businesses always support local clubs, organizations and food pantries in our area whenever they are called upon for assistance during the year. Their kindness and generosity shows how they much they care for the people in small communities.
Secondly, the food drive could not have been held without the many volunteers who gave up two of their Saturday mornings. A special thank you goes to the Club Scouts Pack #153. I was very impressed with these young lads who came out on a cool, rainy Saturday morning to acquire some community service hours. It gives older people hope for the future when young people get involved in helping others. Without these lads and the other volunteers this food drive could not have taken place.
Last, but not least, was the response and support of the community. With people losing jobs and higher food prices, local food pantries are finding it harder to meet the most basic needs of those who need assistance. Your generosity and thoughtfulness shows your concern for others in our community.
Once again, thanks to all of you for your sacrifice of time, effort and response in making this food drive a success. Working together we can make things happen and show others that we care.
God Bless all of you,
Judy McAnarney
