To the Editor:

The Ladies Auxiliary Posts 6327 is asking for assistance with donations of items to be sent for Christmas to our men and women serving overseas.

They are asking for travel sized toiletries such as toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant, shampoo, hand sanitizer, unscented lotion, mouthwash, feminine products, hand wipes and small packages of tissues as well as non-perishable food items such as pudding cups, fruit cups, canned nuts, cheese crackers, hard candies, chewing gum, breathe mints, etc. Other items that would be enjoyed are crossword and puzzle books, playing cards and paperback novels.

All items can be taken to the Sistersville VFW on Diamond Street between 11 a.m. and 10 p.m. or one of the following local businesses: Phillips Pharmacy, HPS Pharmacy, Floral Expressions and Gifts, WesBanco, First Federal Savings and Loan and Union Bank. Also, there are donation bins located in all community churches.

If anyone is unable to take their donated items to any of these locations, please call Jo Lynn Danser at 304-652-1038 to make arrangements to have the items picked up.

The Ladies Auxiliary needs to have all items collected and ready to be shipped no later than Thanksgiving in order for our troops to receive them in time for Christmas.

Anyone knowing of a loved one serving overseas can also leave their names and addresses at the VFW Post 6327 so they too can be remembered during the season of giving.

This is a most loving and giving community. We must not forget our men and women serving our great country, especially during Christmas. The Ladies Auxiliary Post 6327 would like to thank everyone for their support in this most important endeavor.
