Howard lists donors
Dear Editor,
Last week an error was made in the names of the sponsors for the VFW Scholarship Golf Scramble. Due to my mistake, the changes for the 2009 sponsorships did not get in on time and last year’s list was published; therefore, I would like to make the corrections for 2009.
Sponsors for 2009 are: Tyler Star News, Wetzel Chronicle, AAA Homes, State Farm Insurance (Linda Leasure), Sistersville IGA, Witschey’s Market, Furbee Funeral Home (Alma and Middlebourne), J.W. Potts, Jim Potts, Reliable Supply (Sistersville), Cottrill’s Car Care (St. Marys), Jarvis Funeral Home (Paden City and New Martinsville), Bell Chevrolet-Olds, Myer’s Funeral Home, Phillips Pharmacy, Dr. Richard B. Stender, JC Mensore Distributor Inc., Sistersville Tank Works, Precision Inc., DeNoon Lumber Co., Wable Ford-Mercury, Union Bank, Riggenbach Tile & Carpet, Pleasants County Bank, St. Marys Fitness Center, King’s Corner, S&S Jewelry, Herb’s Paint & Body Shop, Ace Home Center (New Martinsville), WesBanco, Convenient Market (Paden City), First Federal Savings Bank, Bridgeport Rental, Action Gaming, Paden City Memorial Gardens, and Century 21 (Harry Cain).
Also, I would like again to thank all the golfers who participated and those who helped make this year another success: the members of the Sistersville Country Club for the use of their carts; Rose, Pam, Gail and Pike for food prep, breakfast, and lunch; and all of the staff and members of the Country Club who helped. In addition to the Hole Sponsors, we owe a big thank you to Pat Morris of the Sistersville IGA and Bill Witschey of Witschey’s Market for providing food for the breakfast and the cookout for the past 10 years.
The scholarship awards for the three high schools have now totaled $30,000 and the VFW Trust Fund invested with the Paden City Foundation has now grown to over $64,000.
Sincerely,
Larry F. Howard
