Slider tackles National politics

By Staff | May 27, 2009

Dear Editor,

When President Obama ran for office last fall, he promised to be a new kind of leader one that would bring people together, even those with opposing views, to solve the many daunting challenges at hand. With the President’s development of a new fuel efficiency policy, he has followed through on that promise.

In developing this new policy, President Obama brought together autoworkers, environmentalists, scientists, governors, and senators. By listening to such a diverse array of voices, he was able to come up with a plan that benefits everyone. The new plan will strengthen our national security by reducing our dependence on foreign oil, save Americans money by lowering energy costs, help curb climate change by reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and give new life to the struggling American auto industry by creating a new market for clean and efficient cars.

We can’t solve all of our energy problems overnight, but this is an important step in the right direction. It shows that there is no problem we can’t tackle with strong leadership and the willingness to bring together all stakeholders.

Sincerely,

Mr. Francis D. Slider
