Food drive a success

By Staff | May 20, 2009

Dear Editor,

The St. Paul’s United Methodist Church Food Pantry volunteers would like to express our sincere thanks and gratitude to the National Association of Letter Carriers and the United States Postal Service for their extraordinary efforts put forth in the “Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive,” which was held on May 9, 2009. In the Paden City area they collected 1,581 pounds of food and donated it to our food pantry.

With the economy in turmoil, with more people losing jobs and with higher food prices, food pantries have seen an increase in the number of visitors who are having a difficult time meeting their basic needs. Our food pantry would have a very difficult time meeting the needs of the most vulnerable people in our community without this food drive. Your kindess and generosity is greatly appreciated.

Since our food pantry serves the Paden City area, a special thank you goes out to the letter carriers of Paden City, to all the individuals who volunteered to collect the food, and to the response of the community. Thanks to all of you for your sacrifice of time, effort and response in making this food drive a success and showing other that you care.

God bless all of you,

Judy McAnarney
