Parrish tells of CPR class
Dear Editor,
Over a two week period, I have had 111 students at Tyler Consolidated High School complete a Heartsaver CPR/First Aid course. West Virginia Code 18-2-9 requires that CPR and First Aid be included in the health curriculum.
The students watched short videos, completed short written exams, homework assignments, as well as participating in numerous hands-on activities. Each student took part in each stage. The grades these students accomplished were some of the highest, class-wise, I’ve instructed.
It was a great honor to have the backing and donations of supplies from Sistersville General Hospital.
One important lesson students will remember: “It is better to know, and not need, than to need, and not know.”
Once again I want to say thank you to Sistersville General Hospital, Tyler Consolidated High School, Mr. John Knowlton, and most of all, the students for making this course such a great success.
Sincerely,
Martin L. Parrish
