A Good Investment

We applaud the Tyler County Commission and many volunteers who played a role in the first-ever Tyler County Youth Camp. The event was held at the county’s 4-H grounds July 25-27.

We know folks were bound to be disappointed over the lack of the usual 4-H camp this year; however, safety comes first. It just wasn’t feasible for the county to have the annual overnight camp while renovations are ongoing.

In a short amount of time, however, organizers were able to make an unforgettable and fun experience with a day camp. Youngsters had the opportunity to partake in three meals a day and participate in a plethora of unique activities, close to home and free of charge.

We hope events like this continue, in some shape or form. In a world where bad news is abundant, even in our own small community, it’s refreshing to see folks come together for a good cause. Our county’s youth are the future of our county; we are glad to invest in them.
