Child Abuse Prevention Month
Soon, if not already, we will be seeing pinwheels in front of several local facilities, along with a special flag flying in front of the county’s courthouse. These items symbolize Child Abuse Prevention Month.
If you read the front page commission story, you will see that the Lighthouse Child Advocacy Center was recognized at the March 14 commission meeting for the work they do for victims of child abuse.
This is tough work that, no doubt, follows the staff of the CAC home each day.
The CAC staff hears awful details of abuse, of all kinds, from the most innocent and most vulnerable of our society, children.
However, the work is necessary to seek justice for these young victims, and to begin the healing process.
Innocence is never regained, but with the help of the CAC, these children find ways of coping, and hope for better days ahead.
We salute them in April, and all year long, for their courage and care.
