We are so glad Cathy Post, of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit #48, came up with the idea of a Christmas tree to honor veterans.
What better way to mark the season of joy and peace than by honoring those brave men and women who are peacekeepers, heroes who ensure we have the freedom to even celebrate holidays?
The fact that so many readily offered assistance for Post’s endeavor just shows how wonderful of an area we live in. Post’s husband, fellow auxiliary members, the town of Middlebourne, and many more helped this idea blossom.
Plans are already made for next year’s tree, including a special ceremony to mark its installation.
We hope that in the New Year, this idea continues to grow, and our community will think of even more ways to honor those who have, and continue to, protect our freedom.
