Find Solution to Broadband Issues
Broadband expansion in West Virginia has been a hot topic lately. It is being recognized throughout the state that the broadband speed is below adequate. Sure this can cause lagging in our personal computers, and make cell phones harder to use in rural locations, but there are many larger issues at play here. It is essential for businesses in this day and age to have reliable internet for them to have a chance at success. Also, it is a major risk for local emergency services to be without reliable internet service. West Virginia has one of the highest percentages of residents without broadband in the nation. We live in a time where progression depends on the internet. For example, there was an incident where a school had purchased new I-Pads for students to use and become familiar with, but several students were unable to use them at home due to poor broadband. As a result, these students fell behind in their academic advancement. The Tyler County Development Authority and the Mid-Ohio Valley Regional Council are currently working together to resolve this issue that has been going on for far too long now. With enough work and research, hopefully these entities can bring quality broadband to an area that desperately needs it for business, schools, and emergency personnel.
