County Surveyor Searches for Answers
The County Surveyor is offering his services to clean up old county property deeds, but is having a difficult time doing so from all sides. The records that he has available are far outdated, and many land markers have disappeared over the years. He is also facing state codes that basically say he has no duties, giving him little authority to enforce that properties be surveyed before any deed transfers can be made. We live in time with advanced technology and GPS systems, yet we are plotting our property off of deeds created over 100 years ago. It creates much confusion when properties actually do get surveyed, and some folks are finding out that they didn’t necessarily get what they paid for. We wish the County Surveyor luck in resolving these issues.
