Marble Festival Draws Record Crowds
Sistersville’s Marble Festival attracted thousands of people to the three-day event that ended Sunday.
Marble fans were able to learn more about how these glass treasures are made.
Marble makers fired up a kiln to show that it takes not only creativity, but patience and a steady hand to transform molten glass into smooth sphere that captures the imagination of adults and children alike. Once upon a time, there were many marble factories all over the area because kids played the popular game that in one form or another had been around for a very long time. Though times change, the memories remain.
Marble Festival Founder Jim King and those craftsmen who put on this festival together during the past 17 years deserve credit for having the best attendance ever.
Not only did folks learn more about marbles, they got to spend time with their families and see the best that Tyler County has to offer.
