Area high school football teams play their season openers this Friday at 7 p.m.

Tyler Consolidated High School will host Williamstown, and Paden City opens on the road at Symmes Valley.

We encourage Silver Knights and Wildcats students, alumni, faculty and staff to attend the games to support their teams. The first game of the season has the power to set the tone. Win or lose, fan support is critical to those programs’ development and future achievement.

Empty bleachers not only affect team play, but can offer a glimpse into a community’s spirit. A community that supports all of its sports teams from football to basketball to track is a place that will endure the passage of time long after the seniors have graduated and wins/losses have faded into history.

Good luck Silver Knights and Wildcats. Play your hearts out. Win or lose, you’ll have the community’s support.
