Time With Family Is Joy of Easter
Easter Sunday is around the corner, which means not only egg hunts, but a chance to spend quality time spent with family and friends. Earlier this week, members of the Sistersville United Methodist Church passed out palms and said prayers to people as they walked through downtown Sistersville on Palm Sunday. Many churches will hold a Cross walk on Good Friday. Many residents will mark the occasion by carrying the kids to Easter egg hunts near and far across Tyler County. Many more will attend a Sunday sunrise service for fellowship and inspiration. When the sun comes up and a pastor says – “He is risen” – a warm feeling touches the soul and inspires hope despite the morning chill. These moments not only strengthen our faith, but mark special time spent with families, coming together for a large Easter dinner after church. And then there is faith. Sistersville UMC Reverend Bill Dawson spent time recently in the Holy Land. He not only said the experience strengthened his faith, but he offered this observation about his trip. “Seeing these Holy sites in Jerusalem reminds me that these aren’t just stories, the tomb was and still is empty. The resurrection happened over 2000 years ago, and we continue to tell His story. Easter has a way of strengthening beliefs. Whether religious beliefs, or simply reuniting as family, Easter brings about a sense of hope and renewal.
