Nothing to do?

By Staff | Aug 27, 2014

It always amazes us when people, particularly young people, say there is nothing to do in this area.

Nothing to do?!?! Are you kidding us?

On any given weekend there is more to do in Tyler County and the surrounding area than any one person can possibly fit on their calendar.

This weekend is a great example. At the risk of missing some events, let us highlight a few:

Friday: High school football begins, Tyler Consolidated High School at home and Paden City High School at Clay-Battelle; Paden City Labor Day Celebration begins; free music at Joseph’s Mills Community Building and at Sistersville City Park.

Saturday: PC Labor Day Celebration continues and it is the last day for swimming this year at the Sistersville Pool.

Sunday: PC Labor Day Celebration continues, Tyler Consolidated High School Class of 1994 invites all TCHS alumni to their reunion, and while it does require a bit of a drive, the free Wheeling Symphony Orchestra concert under the stars (and fireworks) is always an enjoyable evening.

Monday: PC Labor Day Celebration continues including the Fun Run at 8:30 a.m. and the parade at 1 p.m.

No doubt the list could go on. The point is that there are always things to do here and for that we are thankful. We believe it is the events in a community that give it a cohesiveness and identity. These events do not just happen. They take planning, work, and dedication. To those that make them a reality, we give you thanks and hope that many will attend and enjoy the fruits of your labor.

Anything happening this weekend? You bet!
