Divine intervention

By Staff | Aug 20, 2014

Deloris Placer is uninjured. Delbert Rush is still with us. Those might be the best unwritten headlines in this week’s Tyler Star News.

On the front page you can read of how Placer’s home was destroyed by fire Friday night. Thankfully a neighbor saw the blaze and stepped in, literally into her home, and saved her. Local firefighters battled the blaze and countless friends and neighbors have come to her assistance.

All of that is wonderful, but perhaps the neatest part of the story is what they found inside-while her Bible and its stand were burned, her Rosary-which was right there with those items-was not touched by flames. The phenomenon certainly makes it appear that prayer is important.

Betty Ruth Rush, in her Grandma’s Country Kitchen column in page 6, also speaks of a miracle. Her husband Delbert had a stroke and they believe the only thing that saved him was the aspirin family members administered. . . and the prayers many offered up on his behalf.

Believe or not, the power of prayer. divine intervention, is evident this week. It appears to be the force behind the unwritten headlines.
