Like a family

By Staff | Aug 13, 2014

We are a community. We are a family.

Like a family, we have our black sheep and we have our saints. We also have those who try to act like both. We have a weird aunt or uncle here or there. We have the children who don’t behave and the ones who excel. After all, that kind of diversity is what makes up a family. . . and our community.

We have our traditions. Sure, some of them may be a little silly. Some of them are very poignant. All of them are important to us.

That is why it offends us when someone pokes fun. Say something bad about West Virginia and our Mountaineer spirit raises. Dare to make our traditions-simple things that bring some joy-look ridiculous and we’re likely to be offended.

We are what we are. We are West Virginians, Tyler Countians, and residents of various corners of Tyler County. We aren’t perfect, but we are proud.
