Support The FFA
It’s that time of year again-the annual Tyler County Ham, Bacon and Egg sale will be held on March 7 at 6:30 p.m with the reception beginning at 6 p.m.
Every year students in the FFA Program put a lot of hard work and dedication into preparing for the sale. They begin raising their animals in the spring. In November, the animals are slaughtered and a few weeks before the show cured and smoked.
The sales teaches these students the importance of hard work, responsibility and business sense. In addition to these skills, the students walk away with a decent chunk of change that can be used for college or future endeavors.
Last year alone, students raised more than $47,000, topping the $44,770 raised in 2011.
Previous amounts were: 2010, $ 42,745.60; 2009, $34,386.70; and 2008, $38,120.70.
It’s very important for the community and local business to support these students for their hard work. So, come out Thursday night and show your support.
