Rain or Shine

By Staff | Jun 6, 2012

Cancer is no respecter of persons. It shows up most often when we least expect it, and disrupts our lives in every way possible. There is nothing convenient about the disease – so maybe it was fitting that we woke up to a rainstorm on the day we planned to honor and remember those touched by the devastating disease.

More than a few people asked us why Relay For Life wasn’t postponed. Some assumed the event had been cancelled due to poor weather conditions. Others simply didn’t care one way or another. But in spite of it all, many people chose to come to the Sistersville City Park and ride out the storm with the committee, the teams, the survivors and the caregivers.

Weather is a great metaphor for life – sometimes it’s good, sometimes it’s bad, and there’s nothing much you can do about it but carry an umbrella.

We are proud to serve a community surrounded by caring people, who rain or shine, come to the aid of their neighbors.
