A Caring Community

By Staff | May 9, 2012

This past weekend, the Tyler County Shrine Club and the Nemesis Shrine hosted their annual Shriners’ screening clinic to screen area children age 0-18 for orthopedic problems, burns, spinal cord injuries, and cleft palate and lip. The event provides the opportunity for children to be screened to qualify for free care in the Shriners’ Hospital system. Eligible children receive all care and services regardless of the patients’ ability to pay.

Sistersville General Hospital is one of the few West Virginia hospitals asked to participate.

The generosity of donors is what enables Shriners to deliver this medical care without placing burden on the families of the patients. There are many ways to give, from participating in one of the many Shriners fundraising events, to creating a plan of giving. No matter how large or small, every gift to Shriners makes a difference in the life of a child.

Please consider donating to the Tyler County Shrine. Their presence in our community is vital to our children. Donations may be mailed to: Tyler County Shrine Club, David A. Lucas, Jr., Treasurer, 108 Ash Lane, Sistersville, WV 26175.

There is truly no greater joy than to see area children receive lifechanging medical care that will allow them to grow into adulthood and have the opportunity to live out their dreams.
