We have been given the keys to our kingdom. We are in charge. Yet the freedom that democracy provides to us is something some of us take for granted.

If it’s an “off” year, we don’t vote. If there’s nothing of interest to “us” on the ballot, we stay at home. Yet we complain freely about who is elected without participating in the process.

We say “democracy doesn’t work.” Of course if doesn’t. We don’t allow it to work. We are lazy. We are all talk and no action.

West Virginians have the opportunity to make history by voting in the first ever Special Election for governor on Oct. 4, and it has never been easier to cast a ballot thanks to early voting – which will be available until Saturday, Oct. 1.

Get out there and vote. Let your voice be heard!
