Business As Usual
Last week, we ran an article to inform the community of the changes the United States Postal Service is implementing in our area. Since then, we have been bombarded with question, as rumors of the “closure” of our post office spread like wildfire.
Please allow us to clarify a key point regarding this venture:
The Sistersville and Paden City Post Offices will not be closing. The clerks and carriers, however, will be relocated to the New Martinsville Post Office for the purposes of sorting the mail – which will be delivered from this central location. A postmaster will man the windows in Sistersville and Paden City to aid customers.
The USPS claims this transition will be “seamless” and easy.
When the article was printed last Wednesday, the change was to be implemented on Saturday, April 2. However, on Monday we learned nothing had changed – in fact, the changes have been postponed pending an investigation into the “study” that impacted the decision.
We will continue to update the community as information is made available to us. In the meantime, your mail will be delivered as usual.
