Trouble brewing at the track

By Staff | Mar 9, 2011

We all know there is and has always been alcohol at the Tyler County Fairgrounds during racing season. In fact, one would be naive to think otherwise. But in light of a recent decision to sell alcohol at the racetrack, the question is whether or not capitalizing on this fact is smart or not.

Those who are against the measure argue that the sale of alcohol would place liability on the county. However, Prosecuting Attorney D. Luke Furbee informed the County Commission that the Fair Board would most likely be liable.

Still, a lawsuit may have the potential to drain the funds needed for the county fair.

. . .Time will tell.
