Be Honest, Be Yourself

In the day and age of anonymity few people are willing to take possession of their thoughts, ideas and opinions long enough to share them with other people.
We see this daily with message boards versus letters to the editor – on one hand you want to let people know that you agree or disagree with them, but you don’t want them to know who you are. But in some cases this approach does little to change the situation.
We encourage those of you who are brave enough, to take your words captive and write letters to the editor. Let other people know how you feel about what is going on in our community. Be honest and be yourself!
The Tyler Star News welcomes letters to the editor from area readers and observes the following policy:
Letters should be no more than 400 words in length and must include the author’s signature, city of residence and telephone number for verification purposes.
The Tyler Star News will only print letters of thanks from nonprofit agencies, community organizations or those involved in a public issue. The Tyler Star News reserves the right to reject any letter for publication or edit them to conform to the newspaper’s style. Letters of a slanderous or libelous nature will not be printed.
Letters may be mailed, delivered in person or e-mailed to editor@tylerstarnews.com.
