From our perspective
Every week, we at the Tyler Star News, strive to deliver news and events that are relevant to the community.
We often put in long hours covering games (sometimes out of town), meetings, parades and events. We spend time away from our families because we have a job to do and we want to do it well.
We field your calls on Wednesday. We listen to your grievances. We take your criticism – constructive and not so constructive. And yet life in the newspaper office goes on.
Our job is tedious and complicated. We are often forced to play both sides of the fence in order to relay an unbiased story.
You, as readers, may not always appreciate what we have to say or like how the paper looks, and that’s all right. We will continue to do our jobs to the best of our ability regardless.
Let us be clear, we are not whining or complaining. We love every minute of the fast-paced world of community news gathering. But it needs to be stated that we’re doing the best that we can and it will never be perfect.
Will we always get your announcements in the paper the way you might want them to be? No. The only way to guarantee that is by purchasing ad space. However, it is our goal to fit in as many of the announcements and articles as possible each week. If you don’t see yours, don’t take it personally.
