I will have to say that the letters I occasionally receive are welcomed, and enjoyable to read. Most letters reminisce about something in someone’s life that a story kindles past memories. Good memories often of their childhood or when a child was growing up. And once in a while I get one that disagrees with my progressive ideas, but those letters have been polite and express their view point. And that is good. I hope that my stories cause people to think and consider others’ views without anger and violence. I believe (Naively of course) most people are good.

The recent killing of Charlie Kirk is a terrible thing. Just as bad was the posting of the moment the bullet struck him. His friends and family will always have that thought in their mind. My good friend Rich Earliwine recently told me, “I saw many terrible things in Vietnam, but none as bad as that image.” That terrible image marks a page in our memories, much like the images played over and over on 9-11. Anger in the world and in our country is growing and bringing the fear of average citizens along with it. A great divide of Americans with fewer and fewer people holding the middle ground. Even here in our community.

As I told you in the beginning of my story, I recently received a letter from an elderly lady. That is how I see her from the letter. Now I will tell you that she did not sign her letter. She indicated that powers in this country could and may take away social security, Her’s could be first because of her views on President Trump.

Anonymous’s words, “I listen to the daily news and bow my head and pray for our national rights. Freedom and democracy. Here is a political article I read right after Trump’s insurrection.” TRUMPY, DUMPY SAT ON HIS WALL (THRONE) CRYING OUT HIS GREAT LIES TO ONE AND ALL. HE THEN LOOKED DOWN AT HIS MEN AND SAID, I KNOW I AM LYING, I DIDN’T WIN, BUT YOU ALL BETTER PROVE MY LIES OR NONE OF YOU WILL EVER WORK AGAIN. YOU AND YOUR FAMILY’S WILL NEVER BE SAFE AGAIN. FOR I AM YOUR KING AND GOD OF YOU ALL.

This ladies’ letter in many ways expresses a silent fear many have, that a political crisis is coming. In every situation there is a tipping point when the scales of our future become unbalanced. Historians tell us that mankind has rushed to the darkness of chaos many times in history. And each time at the last-minute, common sense prevails and disaster is once again diverted. Is this administration taking us towards the cliff where in the 1950s, Walt Disney convinced us Lemmings jumped to their death over the edge. That was a myth, but still today people believe. Are we heading towards the edge of a non existing cliff in our fear? The lady who wrote this letter must feel the edge of America’s Freedoms is near.

Whatever you believe, you know that our future has been changed. And the people in Washington are telling you, “We are only doing what you elected us to do.” That is so we can’t blame them if it goes wrong. Did you elect them to dismantle the education department, undermine our health agencies, take away Medicare from many, anger our friends around the world, undermine our leadership and give opportunities to China, Russia, India to build a new world leader? No one can deny what this lady in the letter implies, our government has an all-powerful leader, backed by the legal system and congress. What happened to the balance of government, check and balances?

I think we all should join my anonymous letter writer and pray that common sense returns, and America is great because of our freedoms, not because of our fears, as I see it Through the Lens.
