Mary W. (Haught) Thomas

Mary W. (Haught) Thomas, 88, of Middlebourne, WV peacefully passed away on February 24, 2026 while surrounded by family at home.

Mary was born March 21, 1937 in Next, WV daughter of the late Anthony and Linnie R. (Virden) Haught.

She was a retired Post Master for the Shirley Post Office. She gave her time to multiple different organizations, volunteering with Journey Hospice and The Red Cross. Her cakes were famous among the community. She loved to garden and was an avid reader. Mary helped catalog the cemeteries for the Tyler Co. history book. She collected glassware and loved to walk. She was also a member/trustee of the Archers Chapel Methodist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Everett Thomas, son, Steven H. McNees, grandson, Beau Patterson, brothers and sisters, Andy, Paul, Viginia, and Linda.

Surviving are her children, Scott (Dee) McNees of Middlebourne, WV, Tracy (Mitch Herrick) McNees of Parkersburg, WV, Kelly (Jason Johans) McNees of Lewisburg, WV, and Mary Ann Devine of Fairmont, WV; grandchildren, Jacob, Seth, Sophia, Emily, Charlie, Blake, Bruce, Jeremy, and Tom; twelve great grandchildren; four siblings, Carol Cox, Janice (Randall) McMullen, Donna Smith , Jerry (Nancy) Haught all from Middlebourne, WV; brother in law, Donnie Baker of Middlebourne, WV; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and family friends.

Friends received from 1- 3 p.m. Saturday February 28, 2026 at the Furbee Williams Funeral Home 217 Main St. Middlebourne, WV 26149. A celebration of life will be held at the convenience of the family at a later date.
