Jayden Clark Pratt
Jayden Clark Pratt,
16, was diagnosed
when he was thirteen
years old (June 8,
2022) with Ewings
Sarcoma, which is soft
tissue cancer. He battled the cancer for
three years. That was
him being in and out
of the hospital, but it
also meant that he was
away from his family,
classmates and friends.
Around July of 2024,
Jayden asked his
parents if he could discontinue his treatments
and allow mother nature to take its course.
After a tough discussion and long period of
processing what it
would mean, his
parents agreed to
Jayden’s request. For
the last couple of
months, it has been
very difficult on him
and his family, not
knowing if this would

be their last day together. While wait for
mother nature, the
family talked about
how they would bear
the burden of a funeral.
Like all parents would
do, they had put all of
their resources into
keeping Jayden alive.
Journey Hospice,
knowing there was a
resource in Wetzel
County, reached out to
the funeral home to see
if it would be a
resource that would be
available to Jayden.
Since Jayden lived in
Tyler County, at the
time, he did not meet
the requirements of the
Zachary Taylor Trust.
So, information was
shared between the
funeral director and the
family. The decision
was made to start a
fund in Tyler County.
This fund would bear
the name of a courageous young man, Jayden Pratt Trust. It was
understood that from
the funds, first would
be funeral arrangements for Jayden. The
funds that remain
would be used to pay it
forward to the next
young person from
Tyler County who is
under the age of nineteen. Accounts have
been set up at Union
Bank and WesBanco.
Folks who are willing
to pay it forward by
making a donation
may swing into either
financial institution
and make an
anonymous donation
into the Jayden Pratt
Trust. Jayden was
