Judy “Jake” Johnson
Judy “Jake” Johnson, 72, of Wheeling, WV, passed away on April 2, 2024 at home.
She was born April 30, 1951, in Kenova, WV, a daughter of the late Carl Johnson and Clara Smith Johnson, of Sistersville, WV.
Judy retired as a Police Officer for the City of Wheeling after 20 years of service. After retirement, she was a federal court security officer in the northern district of WV 4th Circuit. She loved training and riding horses and was an animal lover of all kinds. She was a lifelong member of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #38.
She is survived by her sisters, Deana Martin of Houston, TX and Ginger (Wayne) Jordan of Cleveland, TN, cousin, Theresa Drain, as well as other relatives, and nieces and nephews. Also, her best friend, Greg Thorngate, who stuck by her through thick and thin as well as a multitude of friends.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister, Joni Nuzum.
There will be memorial service for Judy on Sunday, April 21, 2024 from 2-4 pm at Elm Grove United Methodist Church, 125 Kruger Street, Wheeling, WV with Pastor Debra Dague officiating. Interment will be at a later date in Greenwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Judy’s honor to Last Chance Corral, 5350 Old Route 33, Athens, OH 45701.
