Patients across Wetzel County and the surrounding region now have even greater access to outpatient infusion services as Wetzel County Hospital expands the operating hours of its Outpatient Infusion Center, making it easier than ever to receive specialized treatments close to home.

The expanded schedule allows patients to receive a wide variety of infusion therapies, injections, catheter care, and other outpatient treatments without the need to travel long distances. The Infusion Center now offers appointments Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m., providing increased flexibility for patients and caregivers.

The expansion reflects Wetzel County Hospital’s ongoing commitment to improving access to healthcare services while keeping patients connected to their families, physicians, and support systems.

The Outpatient Infusion Center works closely with referring physicians to coordinate care, obtain treatment orders, and schedule appointments that are convenient for each patient. The center serves as a cost-effective alternative to hospital-based inpatient care while allowing patients to remain in familiar surroundings throughout treatment.

Services offered include IV infusions, hydration and electrolyte replacement, blood and blood product administration, antibiotic therapy, iron infusions, monoclonal antibody therapy, immunotherapy, chemotherapy pump takedown, specialized injections, vascular access device maintenance, wound care, and catheter care. The team also collaborates closely with primary care providers, specialists, and the WVU Cancer Institute to ensure seamless, coordinated care for every patient.

Martinelli said the expanded hours are especially important for patients balancing treatment with work, school, and family responsibilities.

The expanded Infusion Center is also part of Wetzel County Hospital’s continued investment in growing specialty services throughout the region. Recent additions, including expanded oncology services through the WVU Cancer Institute, complement the Infusion Center and allow more patients to receive comprehensive treatment locally rather than traveling outside the area.
